Make no bones about it, Paul McCartney is not just dropping by the Olympics for the Opening Ceremony performance. Sir Paul is truly a fan of the athletes taking part in the games and continues to voice his opinion on his favorites in the media leading up to the ceremony.
The singer told BBC’s 6Music host Lauren Laverne that the event he’s most looking forward to is the 100 meter dash, where sprinter Usain Bolt has been dominant. The vocalist says, “I love the spring – obviously the 100 meters. I’ve got to see Mr. Bolt because, you know, he’s just a bit phenomenal. Wow, yeah! I don’t think anyone can beat him so that will be great to see.”
McCartney will headline the Olympic Opening Ceremony this evening. Details of most of the event have been kept under wraps, as director Danny Boyle is overseeing the production. However, NME reports that one journalist tweeted a photo of Alex Turner rehearsing at Olympic Stadium, leading to speculation that the Arctic Monkeys might be part of the proceedings.
