Although it didn't end the way many Bills fans hoped it would, the 2019 season was exciting.  So what do the Bills need to take care of before 2020?

If you're a Bills fan, it may feel like for many years, it was hard to keep players here.  Just about the time they started to peak, they would hit free agency and they would be gone.

So if you are the Bills, who do you sign to a new contract and who do you let walk in 2020?

These are the players that are unrestricted free agents according to BuffaloBills.com:

  • RB Frank Gore
  • RB Senorise Perry
  • LG Quinton Spain
  • T LaAdrian Waddle
  • DE Shaq Lawson
  • DT Jordan Phillips
  • LB Lorenzo Alexander
  • LB Maurice Alexander
  • LB Julian Stanford
  • S Kurt Coleman
  • CB Kevin Johnson
  • DB Dean Marlowe

Lorenzo Alexander has already announced that he will be retiring from football to spend time with his family.

If the Bills are going to spend some money this year, they might want to put some of it into their established defense.

Shaq Lawson had the best year of his career with 6.5 sacks, 12 tackles for loss, and 18 quarterback hits.  But the Bills did not pick up his 5th year option when they could.  So will he make them pay now?

The same could be said for Jordan Phillips.  He really emerged as a huge force on the defensive line for the Bills this year with 9.5 sacks and 13 tackles for loss.

One of the guys that I would like to see back is offensive lineman Quinton Spain.  You know a lineman is doing a good job when you rarely hear about them.  That was the case with Spain.  He started every game and played every offensive snap for the Bills this year.

Who would you like to see back this year?
