Leave it to the boys in Van Halen to throw us for a loop. When they play thier first show in Buffalo with David Lee Roth in nearly 28 years on Friday, March 9 at the First Niagara Center they'll be doing it with Kool and the Gang. Really, this has to be a joke. No, not a joke according to the official concert announcement this morning. But why not, Van Halen purists will be looking to "celebrate" the return of Diamond Dave. So why not do a little dancing in the aisles before the show with Kool and the Gang.

Although we're still somewhat dissappointed they couldn't find a way to make Michael Anthony a part of this reunion tour, seeing the Mach I lineup of Van Halen sans Anthony is pretty exciting. They just did a tune up show in Greenwich Village at the tiny Cafe Wha?, a bar that Roth's Uncle Manny once ran, for a select few journalists and industry moguls. The setlist was said to be pretty tight and the band hit thier stride about four songs in and even included a new song from thier new album "A Different Kind of Truth" due out February 7. The first single and video from the new album,  "Tatoo", will be released on January 10.

So how much are you willing to pay to see the biggest party rockers of all-time? While the top ticket for this show is pretty expensive, there are still plenty of tickets that are affordable. Which is good, because Van Halen has always been a working class hero's band and I'd hate to see fans get priced out. But you'll have to get your tickets early if you want the cheap seats. Tickets go on sale Saturday, Jan 14 at 10 am at Livenation.com ,the First Niagara Center Box Office or you can charge by phone at 1-888-223-6000. Of course, Jack FM we'll have free tickets that you can win in our freeloader club and on the air, unless our program director decides to scalp them. So stay tuned for that.
