The Buffalo Sabres will have the seventh overall draft pick in this June's NHL Draft.  They entered Tuesday night's NHL Draft with the fifth best chance to finish with the Number One overall pick for the second year in a row, but two teams with lesser odds bypassed them.

Finishing with the Number One overall pick for the second time in three years are the New Jersey Devils.  They entered the lottery with the third best odds for winning the top pick and moved from third to first.  The Devils selected center Nico Hischier in the 2017 Draft and now will have a chance to select center Jack Hughes Number One overall this year.

The New York Rangers moved up four spots from the 6th best odds to the Number Two overall pick.  The Chicago Blackhawks moved from the 12th best odds into the Number Three draft position.

It means that the Colorado Avalanche who started with the best odds to keep the top pick fell from Number One to Number Four.

Here's the selection order for the 2019 NHL Draft for this year's non-playoff teams:

  1. New Jersey Devils
  2. New York Rangers
  3. Chicago Blackhawks
  4. Colorado Avalanche
  5. Los Angeles Kings

  9. Anaheim Ducks
  10. Vancouver Canucks
  11. Philadelphia Flyers
  12. Minnesota Wild
  13. Florida Panthers
  14. Arizona Coyotes
  15. Montreal Canadiens

The NHL Draft will take place Friday and Saturday, June 21st and 22nd in Vancouver.
