One of the best things about living in Western New York, or New York State in general, is the great apple farms/orchards and the past-time of apple picking.

Get ready for a terrific apple season!

According to WIVB, the 2019 spring was cool and wet, which helped this fall's apple season.

“They’re a really nice size because we’ve had such good rain,” said Mindy Vizcarra of Becker Farms.

Susan Brown of Cornell University, a horticulture professor, says the apple season should be great across the entire state.

While we had a very wet early season, which made control of early diseases difficult, that was followed by sun and heat,” Brown said. “These recent cold nights are perfect for enhancing both color and quality. Due to all of the early rainfall, apple size should be bigger this year.”

Apple picking is one of the best ways to spend time in the fall across the area, so definitely take advantage of this.
