Last night in a tweet, Erie County Executive Mark Poloncarz announced that he has ordered the Eternal Flame Falls Hiking Trail at Chestnut Ridge Park to be closed indefinitely closed due to a couple of incidents that required assistance from First Responders.

WKBW reports that the closure has nothing to do with COVID-19, but the fact that emergency crews had to add in rescuing the people involved.

I'm curious if that is really the case considering a quick google search shows other times when people were injured and had to be rescued, but the park remained open.

As someone who loves walking & hiking that trail, I know I will keep an eye on the Erie County Parks twitter account for news of when the park reopens.
