April 7th, the Buffalo Sabres said goodbye to head coach Phil Housley.  Today, they've announced that they have found their guy.

Sabres fans are hungry for wins.  Just like many seasons in Buffalo sports history, last year held big promise for the Sabres.  With Eichel and Dahlin and Jeff Skinner being added to the roster, things were looking good. They even had a big 10 game win streak in November.  But then things fell apart.

Now, they need to win.

The front office thinks they've found just the guy to lead them to that.

Welcome the new head coach of the Buffalo Sabres - Ralph Krueger.

He is the 19th coach in Sabres history and Jason Botteril seems to think that he's got what it takes to bring the Sabres to the next level:

"His strong communication skills, leadership and diverse background make him a uniquely qualified candidate to lead our team going forward." - Sabres GM Jason Botteril

According to the Sabres, in 2014, he won a gold medal at the Winter Olympic Games in Sochi, Russia as a consultant to Team Canada's coaching staff. Most recently, he served as the head coach of Team Europe, who finished as runners up at the 2016 World Cup of Hockey.

If the name sounds familiar from the NHL, it may be because he served as the head coach of the Edmonton Oilers prior to the 2012-13 season after spending the 2010-11 and 2011-12 campaigns as the team's associate coach.
