As many as 50 new firefighters will be hired in the city of Buffalo thanks to a grant.

Over the next few years, older firefighters will either retire or be replaced.

According to Metro Source News:

The city has received a nearly 10 million dollar federal grant to hire 50 firefighters.  The money is coming from the Department of Homeland Security's SAFER Program which helps communities maintain adequate fire department staffing levels.
