Teenagers In Georgia Can Now Get a License Without Taking a Road Test

This is something that had a lot of people talking this week, not just in Georgia, but everywhere.

According to WIVB, Georgia is allowing drivers to get their licenses without taking a driving test during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Georgia Governor Brian Kemp signed an executive order that waves the road test requirement for teenagers applying for a driver's license. However, other requirements, such as completing driving hours with their parents is still necessary.

“What the executive order does, it allows the teen driver to go to that next phase without having to take that road test because of social distancing problems, obviously, in trying to provide the test,” Spencer Moore, the commissioner at the Department of Driver Services, told CBS affiliate WSB-TV.

There's currently a backup of 30,000 people waiting for a road test but now they can skip it.

People 16 to 18 years of age, who had learner permits for over one year, no violations, and who have completed the necessary 40 hours of driving training with a parent or instructor, can apply for their license.
