You may have seen the billboards on the 190 or the 33 when you drive into work. Buffalo's Olmstead Parks is going to RE-break the world record for “Longest line of garden flamingos”.

IT seems like there is a world record for just about anything. And some of them were set right here in the Empire State.

I feel like this would be an easy World Record that Buffalo could break! About 1,200 people formed to make the world's largest human shamrock on St. Patrick's Day in Elmira. They actually had so many people that they had to turn some of the community away...

We've been mourning the sad loss of 'Calvin and Hobbes' ever since cartoonist Bill Watterson stopped producing the beloved comic strip in 1995. But apparently the strip hasn't gone completely forgotten, since a piece of original 'Calvin and Hobbes' artwork recently broke a record at auction by selling for hundreds of thousands of dollars.

Just a few weeks ago, we saw a high school kicker top an NFL record by kicking a 67-yard field goal. Now comes a video of a punter who booted the ball 96 yards in a high school football game. Which begs the question: What kind of freaks will the next generation of athletes be? We may have to make football fields bigger.

Thanks to the website RecordSetter, which allows folks to invent a world record in anything, many a wacky record was set and/or broken in 2011.

Last month, Cuban native Jose Castelar set out to break his own record for the world’s largest cigar. Castelar began the project at the end of April and, with the help of assistants, finished the super-cigar on Tuesday.
