It's a staple now along Canalside in the city of Buffalo. Shark Girl. You've probably lost count how many times people have taken a selfie with the iconic landmark.

Unfortunately, you'll have to get to used to not seeing Shark Girl at Canalside, at least for a few months.

According to WIVB, Shark Girl will be removed from her place at Canalside next week for maintenance.

Work needs to be done on the fiberglass sculpture, in order to endure future winters and the demands of so many people interacting with Shark Girl.

Shark Girl is a beloved, whimsical year-round fixture at Canalside but needs some rejuvenation after flashing her toothy grin for so many selfies over the years,” said ECHDC Board Chairman Robert Gioia. “ECHDC’s agreement with the Albright-Knox for the repair and maintenance of Shark Girl will allow her to better handle interactions with all her fans, as well as to stand up to harsh Buffalo winters, for years to come. That said, we can’t wait until she returns!”

Albright-Knox Curator of Public Art Aaron Ott says it will be a matter of months before Shark Girl returns.

Shark Girl was created back in 2013 by artist Casey Riordan.
