They have been closed since March, but the Seneca Nation says they will be opening their casinos back up in June.

According to WGRZ, there are three forces at work here.  The Seneca Nation is working with Seneca Gaming & Entertainment and The Seneca Gaming Corporation to open casinos up to the public.  Of course, there will be a tiered system to get them back to full strength as soon as possible, but for now, they will be opening in steps.

"Over the past two months, we have taken extraordinary steps to protect the health and safety of our territories, our people, our workers and our guests.  The Seneca Nation’s gaming operations are an important economic driver for the Seneca people, Western New York and the statewide economy."  - Seneca Nation President Rickey Armstrong, Sr.

The properties that they plan to open are the Seneca Gaming & Entertainment sites in Irving, Salamanca and Cuba, as well as larger casinos including the Seneca Niagara Resort & Casino, Seneca Allegany Resort & Casino, and Seneca Buffalo Creek Casino properties operated by Seneca Gaming Corporation.

They say they expect to open at a reduced capacity but look forward to getting employees back to work and helping to rebuild the local economy. They employ around 4000 workers in the Western New York Area.

New protocols will be included in their plans such as temperature scans, the wearing of masks for everyone entering the casino, workers wearing personal protective gear, and increased sanitation.  Of course, social distancing will also be a requirement amongst staff and guests.

More details on their opening plans, dates, and protocols will be announced in the coming days.
