The Buffalo Sabres were so embarrassed by their no-show against the New York Islanders the night before, they worked hard for a whole seven minutes against the Columbus Blue Jackets.  They led in shots on goal 7-1, but the Jackets scored first, then added another and yet one more for good measure.  It was 3-0 at the end of the first period and the game was essentially over.

The Blue Jackets went on to beat the Sabres 4-0, handing Buffalo its 13th loss in the last 14 games, seventh shutout loss of the season and fifth in the last month.

The Sabres outshot the Blue Jackets 38-36, but their shot selection is poor, many of their shots are from the outside and result in easy saves.

The Sabres say they haven't quit, but it sure looks like it.  They've scored six goals in the last five games, and four of those goals came in one game - the overtime loss to Detroit.

You've got to feel for the fans.  There were plenty of calls to "Fire Housley", then after awhile the fans just gave up and left early.  The fans that were left at the end of the game showed their displeasure by booing the team as they left the ice.

The Sabres have three games left.  Tuesday night they host Nashville.
