Registration for 125th Turkey Trot Begin Tomorrow
Taking part in this year's Turkey Trot will be different than in years past -- but don't miss your chance to keep the tradition alive with this year's 2020 race.
This is the first time in the race's 125-year history it will be held "virtually." Registration opens at 11 a.m. September 9.
The YMCA made the decision to go virtual due to concerns about coronavirus.
"We made this decision to help stop the spread of COVID-19 in our community and give all loyal past participants and friends the opportunity to run virtually (but together) in this annual Thanksgiving tradition."
The longest running foot race in North America, the Turkey Trot helps to support kids and families all over Western New York; funds raised go to various YMCA programs.
As well, there will be a photo contest for this year's Trot. The YMCA is giving out prizes for the best "Turkey & Side Dish" food photos. No training required for this one, participants just have to upload a photo of their delicious dish with the hashtag #TurkeyTrot125 on Thanksgiving Day.
