The New York State Thruway Authority announced last year that the entire thruway would convert to cashless tolls by the end of 2020, and now that is just about here.

According to WIVB, the New York State Thruway Authority announced that cashless tolling is coming by November.

You may have seen the cashless tolls being put in place by crews over the last 10-12 months, including the Lackawanna and Depew toll booths.

According to the NYS Thruway Authority, the new cashless tolls will improve congestion, increase traffic flow and allow for more non-stop travel along the thruway.

Those traveling through the tolls (once the cashless tolls are up and running) will be billed in the mail. The bill will come to whichever address the vehicle registration is.

To find out more about the new cashless tolls, you can go to the Thruway Authority website.

Not having to wait in long lines anymore will be great but I'm sure this will be an adjustment for many people, since they will now be billed the toll fees instead of paying directly at a toll booth.
