According to KGW.com, the northern lights may be visible this Sunday night into Monday morning in locations as south as Buffalo. This unusual phenomenon is a result of a large solar flare that occurred last Friday. The subsequent release of particles caught in a magnetic storm is what enables the possibility of seeing the colors of the aurora borealis here in Western New York.

KGW.com reports "The sky spectacle should be visible in states such as Montana, the Dakotas, Minnesota, Wisconsin, northern Illinois, Michigan, northern New York State and much of New England, according to NOAA's Space Weather Prediction Center."
