It's been 27 years since David Lee Roth recorded an album with Van Halen and the wait is almost over. Next week the band is rumored to be releasing the first single "Late Term". Of course this isn't the first time we've heard this rumor, originally the band was going to release the song around 4th of July but held back.

One thing is certain, if Van Halen is doing a new album with David Lee Roth, it better be good. Nothing could be worse for the band than coming back with Diamond Dave and fizzling out with the new music. It would taint the legacy, and destroy the Roth mystique  that he has seemed to craft over the years.

The last David Lee Roth song with the band was "Me Wise Magic", released on thier "Best of" CD  in 1996 and it was average at best. The war between Dave and Sammy  will rage eternally, but a bad Album from a Roth fronted Van Halen would be a knockout punch for the Red Rocker to Diamond Dave's motor mouth.

Got to wonder though, maybe the problem with Van Halen's vocalists never was Sam or Dave. After all, it was Eddie and Alex who fired them both. They also fired Michael Anthony who is now in the band Chickenfoot with Sammy Hagar.

So this fall ,we get new Van Halen and new Chickenfoot. Hopefully, it will be the Best of Both Worlds for Van Halen fans.
