The United States Navy's newest combat ship will be commissioned in Buffalo later this month.  The USS Little Rock LCS 9 will arrive Monday morning at the Buffalo and Erie County Naval and Military Park for an official welcome.

Docents at the Buffalo Military Park, U.S. military veterans who volunteer their time to lead tours and maintain the retired USS Little Rock will salute the crew of the new ship as it arrives from Lake Erie into the Buffalo River.  The crew of the new ship will return the salute as the Buffalo fireboat E.M. Cotter leads an escort with its water cannons shooting fountains of water.

Riding aboard the new USS LIttle Rock will be Congressman Brian Higgins, State Senator Chris Jacobs, County Executive Mark Polencarz and Buffalo Mayor Byron Brown.

Best vantage points to view of the arrival of the Cotter escort and LCS 9 is along Erie Street by the Erie Basin Marina and the Buffalo Naval Park.  Streets at Canalside will be closed to all traffic for security measures.  No parking will be allowed.
