COVID-19 is frustrating, we understand that.

Not only is it hard with the changing lifestyle and not going about our lives normally, but the rules and laws seem to change. Thanksgiving is only a couple of weeks away, so if you are preparing to go visit OR HAVE family or friends come visit, you will certainly need to know the updated travel policy that is effective as of today, November 4, 2020.

The new policy from New York State is listed on WKBW and states the following:

If you plan on traveling to NYS, you must take a COVID-19 test and have proof of a negative test result within three days of arriving. Once you arrive in NYS you must quarantine for three days. On the fourth day you can take COVID-19 test, if the test is negative you can go about your life but if the test is positive you must remain in quarantine.

If you choose not to get tested on the fourth day then you must remain in quarantine for 14 days.

So, you have to tell your loved ones who are coming to visit you to do some planning if they want to be able to come to New York State. Tell them to go get a COVID-19 test and remember not only do you need it BEFORE you come to New York State, but it takes a few days to get so, you are going to want to call local health care providers and see how many days in advanced you will need to get one.

If you are LEAVING New York and going out of town for Thanksgiving (over 24 hours) and plan on coming back, the same applies. COVID-19 has thrown us some challenges and we'll have to adapt to see our loved ones safely this year!
