Yesterday there was news of a Venmo scam, today, comes word of a "missed package delivery notice" scam.

According to WKBW, the notices have been left outside homes in Elma but people in the southern tier and even Niagara County have reported finding them!

Apparently, these fake notices are trying to get you to call the number and buy water softening product, that's overpriced.

Erie County Blotter is urging people to throw the fake notices out if they receive one at their home.

WKBW says here's what happens when you call the number,

"A representative indicated it was a water awareness company that performs tests to assess water quality. She said the missed package is a free gift card from the company that is given once they assess a home's water quality."

Essentially, it's a scam to get money out of people. Ignore the notice.

The fact people go to such lengths to scam innocent people never ceases to amaze me. There are so many scams you have to be aware of now...
