Metallica: Through the Never' is the hard-rock movie event of the season, and the band is giving fans an early look behind the scenes with a batch of online footage.

The clips, which are being released in a series of 11 installments at Metallica's website, are collected in a series called 'Hit the Lights' and promise to "tell you everything you ever wanted to know about the making of 'Metallica: Through The Never' and the groundbreaking stage production that is an integral part of the film."

Director Adam Dubin and producer Jack Gulick, both veterans of 'A Year and a Half in the Life of Metallica,' chronicled their journey from the production stage to the big screen, which took several years and encompassed planning meetings, warm-up shows and weeks of filming. 'Hit the Lights' collects interviews with the band, director, producers and members of their creative team.

'Metallica: Through the Never,' which chronicles a 3D IMAX gig interspersed with the misadventures of Dane DeHaan starring as a roadie whose big assignment puts him in the middle of a showdown between riot police and a motley crew of hoodlums, is scheduled to debut on IMAX screens on Sept. 27, with a traditional release set for Oct. 4.
