It doesn't seem like it have to be repeated.  It seems like it should be common sense at this point, but people are still leaving their pets in their cars when it's hot out.

According to WIVB a man just received a ticket for leaving his long haired shih tzu in his vehicle while he shopped at Wal-Mart.  It was 90 degrees outside.

Police were called to the Walmart on Military Road in Niagara Falls after 5:30pm when witnesses said they saw a dog stuck in the vehicle and it was moving slowly.

The man's name is Franceso Fernandez and he said he's left his dog in the car many times in the past and nothing has ever happened to it.  He thought that because there was a breeze and it was "only 89 degrees" the dog would be fine.

Onlookers said that the dog was confined for more than half an hour but Fernandez said he was only in the store for 20 minutes.

Fernandez was issued a ticket for confining an animal in a vehicle.

Even 20 minutes trapped in a car could be deadly for animals in this heat.  If you will not be bringing your pet in the stores or businesses that you will be shopping at or visiting, it is best to just leave them at home.  Never leave your pet in a car during warm weather.

Remember, if you see a pet locked inside a car, your safest bet is to call authorities right away.  If you break the window yourself, you can get in trouble.
