If you are still feeling the effects of the pandemic on your bank account, there could be some relief coming your way next week.  $300 Lost Wages Payments are about to start in New York State.

I don't think that most people could have imagined that the result of a virus like COVID-19 would have such far spread and lasting consequences on people's employment status.  But it definitely has.  Tons of people are still out of work and forcing foreclosures on their homes and evictions from their apartments.

However, according to WGRZ, there could be relief for millions in the immediate future.  The New York State Department of Labor announced that they are going to begin  sending out $300 Lost Wages Payments to those that have already pre-qualified.  There is an additional 435,000 who still need to submit an additional certification to qualify.

Look for an email from the NY Department of Labor.  They will be sending them out soon to notify people of their status.

"We have worked day and night to stand up this program, and millions of New Yorkers will see payments next week.  We are emailing all New Yorkers who are receiving benefits to inform them of their status and, if needed, provide information about certifying for the Lost Wages Assistance program."  - State Labor Commissioner Roberta Reardon

If you indicated on your initial unemployment benefit application that your unemployment was connected to COVID-19, you are automatically pre-qualified.  If you need further certification however to confirm your unemployment is related to COVID-19, you will be able to do so beginning Friday Sep. 11th online, or by calling 833-491-0632.
