Look Where Former Bills GM Doug Whaley Landed

After eight years with the Buffalo Bills, the last five of which were as general manager, Doug Whaley has found a new home.  The NFL Players Association has introduced Whaley as its new director of college scouting.  He'll be responsible for the recruitment, evaluation and selection of top draft-eligible prospects for the annual NFLPA Collegiate Bowl.

Whaley has had 22 years of NFL experience in evaluating collegiate talent.  In in addition to the Bills he was a scout for the Seattle Seahawks as well as an assistant in the personnel department of the Pittsburgh Steelers, then later their pro scout coordinator.  During his 11 years with the Steelers, they won two Super Bowls.

Unfortunately his success with the Steelers didn't carry over to the Bills.  He was "relieved of his duties" following last year's NFL draft.  Whaley replaces Tony Softli, who stepped down to take over as director of scouting for the Alliance of American Football.

The Collegiate Bowl allows NFL hopefuls to show off their talents. Nearly 200 scouts, player personnel staff, general managers and head coaches from all 32 NFL teams attend the annual all-star game to watch practices, to do player interviews and view videos.
