North Tonawanda's Department of Parks and Recreation is planning a new playground for the City's Mayors Park and they're going right to the ones who'll be using it for ideas.  Kids have been asked to submit their ideas and drawings of what they'd like to see at the new playground with the promise their submissions will be taken into consideration during the design.

Monday has been designated Design Day when parents and volunteers will gather at the North Tonawanda Youth Center to put all those ideas together and come up with a final plan for the playground.  The playground then will be built on July 27th.

Up to 200 volunteers are needed to put the playground together.  If you'd like to volunteer to help assemble and build the playground you can sign up here.  The project is expected to take approximately six hours.

Funding for the playground is coming from the Ralph C. Wilson, Jr. Foundation, the City of North Tonawanda, BlueCross BlueShield of Western New York Blue Fund and KaBOOM!.
