All indications were that free agent linebacker Paul Posluszny wanted to return to the Buffalo Bills. But money talks, and the Jacksonville Jaguars signed him away from the Bills yesterday according to ESPN. While it leaves a gaping hole at the middle linebacker position, you might argue that there was a gaping hole there all along. Puz, as we liked to call him, never lived up to the potential we were promised. He spent four years with the Bills, and about half that time on the injury list. Posluzny doesn't even rate on the Bills long list of great linebackers. He should have been Shane Conlan, but he wasn't even Ray Bentley. Still the Jaguars threw a bunch of money at him and signed him to a six year deal.

So now the Bills can move forward and fill that position properly. Well, at least that's the hope.  Watching the Sabres aggressively fill their roster over the last couple of months may have spoiled me. I doubt Ralph Wilson has the same philosophy. But he should, the Sabres have raised the bar on our expectations and if Ralph doesn't start opening up his pocketbook the way Pegula is, the Bills will be the second most popular team in Buffalo.
