Today I found myself looking up how to properly dispose of a chip-enabled credit card, and I wanted to share the process with you.

This is the first chip card I've had where I've gotten a replacement, and I figured just cutting it up wasn't secure enough? I found this process to dispose of a chip-enabled credit card on WikiHow.

1. First, demagnetize the strip. You can use a regular fridge magnet, just run it slowly along the strip.

2. Then cut along the magnetic strip.

3. Use a hammer to destroy the chip. This is the really fun part.

4. Cut up the remaining pieces, and dispose!
