The day before Thanksgiving is always a heavy travel day through the air and by car. This year's Wednesday before Turkey Day will feature a not so pleasant weather day.

According to WIVB, a High Wind Warning is in effect for Chautauqua and Southern Erie counties from 7:00 am on Wednesday until 1:00 am on Thanksgiving.

That same High Wind Warning goes into effect at 10:00 am Cattaraugus, Genesse, Northern Erie, Niagara, Orleans, and Wyoming Counties.

The temperatures will rapidly drop as Wednesday goes along. Gusts of 60 mph are possible, especially during Wednesday afternoon.

It's not just the heavy winds on Wednesday but rain showers throughout the day too; the heaviest will be during the morning hours. That rain shifts south of Buffalo and switches over to snow by Wednesday night, with an inch of accumulation expected in ski country.

If you have to travel it may take extra time getting to your destination. If you're making food preparations on Wednesday, just be aware that the power may go out with the high winds.

Thanksgiving and Black Friday are looking like colder but quieter weather days.
