Mother’s Day is Sunday! We don’t ask for much. A card, maybe some flowers, and one day when we’re not stuck in the kitchen. If that wasn’t a big enough hint, how about this? Take mom out for dinner! Don’t panic, you still have time to make reservations. There are a lot of great restaurants in Western New York. After all, we’re Buffaloians..we love to eat! So when I was asked to whittle it down to five places to take mom, it was tough and I got very hungry. But I prevailed and here are some of my favorite places in no particular order.
DEFLIPPO’S
loading...

I’m 100% Italian so I’m fussy when it comes to food, especially Italian cuisine. I don’t refer to pasta as “noodles,” and I was raised on homemade sauce. DeFlippo’s in Lockport is one of the best Italian restaurants in Niagara County. I always get the gnocchi, and my husband salivates over the lasagna. This family owned and operated restaurant has been in business for 65 years and is one of my favorite restaurants. The food is delicious, the atmosphere is charming, and the prices are extremely reasonable. Salute!

SHOGUN
loading...

The first time I went to Shogun, I was a little nervous. I just kept thinking about Sushi. Sorry, but raw fish isn’t my thing. Now, I am so glad I tried it. Shogun..not sushi. Great food prepared right in front of you, plus you get a show. I’m always amazed on how the chefs flip those utensils around. But a warning, if you’re going to bring little ones, the fire show may scare the pants off them. I know, my son and nephew screamed every time they saw flames erupt from the hibachi.

SALVATORE’S
loading...

Even if you’ve never eaten at Salvatore’s , chances are you’ve driven by the luxurious establishment. I’ve never had a bad meal at Salvatore’s. I’ve been there for many occasions; birthdays, holidays, special occasions, I had my wedding there and even my prom..okay dating back just a tad. Anyway, this would be a great place to take mom, especially if you are trying to make up for all those time you drove her nuts. I always feel like a queen when I go to Salvatore’s. It is a bit pricey, but doesn’t mom deserve it?

BANCHETTIS
loading...

Mother’s Day is a popular holiday for brunch. And if you’re going to spend 20 bucks on a buffet, you should get your money’s worth. One of the best places for brunch is Banchetti’s . You name it, they got it. Eggs, waffles, an omelet station, a carving station, pasta, fruit, a dessert bar, and more! Yum!

WHITE LINEN TEA HOUSE
loading...

The White Linen Tea House in Wheatfield is open on Sundays for 20 guests or more. It’s a place for women. Sorry guys, you wouldn’t appreciate the Victorian appeal, fancy table settings, and quaint atmosphere. My mom took me to the White Linen Tea House a few months ago for a girls’ day out, and we had a fabulous time. The Afternoon Tea Lunch is wonderful. The lunch includes tea (of course) a fresh salad, and a three-tier platter filled with homemade scones, five different desserts, and four assorted tea sandwiches. A gift certificate would make a great gift for mom. I bet you can’t guess what I got my mom and mother-in-law for mother’s day?
