A family in Allegany suffered a total loss of their home in Cattaraugus County after it exploded early on Monday morning.

According to WIVB, the owner of the house says he could hear the explosion from 10 miles away. He had left before the explosion happened. His wife and son weren't in the home either.

But their dog was. According to WIVB, the dog was ejected from the house during the explosion but miraculously survived the blast.

The 13-year old Boston Terrier named Hemi not only survived but was taken to the veterinarian soon after the incident and given a clean bill of health.

The Red Cross helped the family out with necessities. It's not clear what caused the explosion but authorities say they're investigating a potential gas leak in the basement.

The house might be gone but nobody, including the family dog, was hurt, which is by far the most important thing.
