This evening from 6:30 to 8 pm, Slow Roll Buffalo's Freedom Wall Ride will be traveling along major streets Michigan, East Ferry, Main, Humboldt, Best, East Utica & Fillmore and more!! Get all the details here and traffic information!
For week 9 of 26 free and inclusive Monday night community bike rides, Slow Roll Buffalo is throwing a block party at a most appropriate place for the week of July 4th - The Freedom Wall, on which the Albright-Knox Art Gallery commissioned four local muralists to immortalize 28 civil rights leaders "to celebrate our nation’s historic and ongoing struggles for political and social equality, including the formative and lasting contributions of local leaders to this cause."
This Monday's 10-mile roundtrip route includes neighborhoods Cold Springs, Hamlin Park, Kingsley, MLK Park & Broadway-Fillmore along major streets Michigan, East Ferry, Main, Humboldt, Best, East Utica & Fillmore, guided by our trained squad of more than 100 volunteers. Two "mass-up" stops allow for regrouping while community stakeholders inform riders of history, events and issues in the immediate area - this week featuring the local living legends of the Freedom Wall - with the African Heritage Food Co-op Kiddie Kickstand crew selling drinks and snacks for $1 cash.
We'll return to the Freedom Wall for an afterparty on East Ferry with food, drinks, music and fellowship.
Slow Roll Buffalo will continue at a different weekly venue on Monday nights through October 29th. Much more info with new content weekly at www.slowrollbuffalo.org.
