It seems unwanted calls are on the rise these days and now every time your phone rings you have to wonder if it's legit. Now, State Police are warning of a new scam that involves their office.

Scammers are now using the State Police's phone number to try and get personal information from unsuspecting callers. Yes, the call shows up on caller id as it is coming from the State Police. In a reminder to residents, the State Police will never ask you for personal information, like your social security number, over the phone.

It's always better to leave on the side of caution if someone is asking you for personal information. If you get a call asking for just that make sure you are 100% sure before sharing.
