The Los Angeles Chargers scored 28 points in the first half and that was plenty enough to hold on for a 31-20 win over the Buffalo Bills in the Bills home opener.  Not quite the embarrassment the Bills absorbed in the season opener in Baltimore, but still plenty disappointing for the home fans.

The Bills managed just 6 rushing yards, 5 first downs and only a pair of field goals in the first half. Their touchdowns came on a Chris Ivory 1-yard touchdown run early in the third quarter and a 3-yard Josh Allen to Kelvin Benjamin touchdown pass with :38 to play.

For the second week in a row the defense was porous.  The Chargers rolled up 284 yards in offense and 17 first downs in just the first half.  Phillip Rivers was an incredible 15 of 16 and 3 touchdowns in the first half.  The Bills made some adjustments at halftime and allowed just a field goal the rest of the way, but the damage had been done.

In his first NFL start, Josh Allen finished the game 18 of 33 for 245 yards and that one touchdown to Benjamin in the final minute.  He was sacked four times and picked off twice.  The Bills managed only 84 rushing yards, but by falling behind so early, they had to pass to try to catch up.

LeSean McCoy declined to talk to the media after the game after injuring his ribs in the third quarter.  He did come back to play though.

It doesn't get any easier for the Bills - they play road games against Minnesota and Green Bay before returning for their next home game against the Tennessee Titans on October 7th.
