According to the Erie County Fair official website there are just 4 days to go until the fair starts (for a minute to minute countdown visit ecfair.org) so it's time for the details of the fair to be rolled out so you can see and do everything and don’t end up saying, “I didn’t know that there was a ventriloquist with dummy’s who need an attitude adjustment there!” (by the way there will be a ventriloquist with dummy’s who need an attitude adjustment performing at the fair). So here it is your ultimate survival guide to this years Erie County Fair.

    New This Year

This year the Fair is going to offer the same great rides, games, and food that it has been known for (like the poor souls whose job it is to guess people’s weights) and also several new additions. The new additions include the fully restored Antique Carousel Organ which will be on displace through the fair, the Bengal Tiger Encounter Show (show times are at 12:00, 3:00, and 9:00 daily), B Bop N Boogie Bodies which with the help a trusty green screen puts you in your own music video, the Bonanza Shooting Gallery, the Charlie Stron-Stilt Walker, Commerford Calliope Wagon Pony Hitch, the Dinosaur Tour where you can walk inside a 145 ft model of a dinosaur to see what its like inside a real dinosaur.

Then there is Dock Dogs dog show that has shows that run all day, next is John Cassidy – The Bizarre Balloonologist, Micro Reality Stock Car Racing, and Rock-it The Robot, Stars of the Peking Acrobats, The Magic of Cliff Hopkins and Kelly, Wacky Wheeler, and the World Trade Center Traveling Memorial. In addition to all the new stuff this year there will be a 5k run, a talent contest, the Native Bead Work Competition, and a chance to meet NASCAR driver Justin Allgaier from 1-3 pm on August 14. All this is along with the chance to win a meet and greet with Big Time Rush!

    Concerts - Music

When it comes to music the Erie County Fair is the place to be with almost nonstop music being performed from start to finish. The big performances at the fair are Big Time Rush on August 10th, Randy Houser on August 11th which is a free concert, Miranda Lambert on August 14th ( you can get tickets for this show online), America on August 15th which is a free concert, Terry Fator the afore mentioned ventriloquist on August 16th whose dummy’s need an attitude adjustment (tickets can be bought online for this show), and finally Ace Frehley on August 17th which is a free concert.

    Food

Now in between hitting up all the amazing concerts and shows and obviously running in the 5K, make sure to try some of the mouthwatering food at the fair including the new Big Kahuna Donut Burger which is caloric filled artery clogger that has a cheese burger topped with bacon sandwiched between a glazed doughnut. Or if you feel really ambitious enter the eating contest (or if you don’t feel like being full for a few days just watch).
