Iggy Pop was just one of the performers at this year’s Tibet House Benefit Concert at Carnegie Hall in New York City, and for the occasion, he covered late friend and collaborator David Bowie.

Composer Philip Glass curated the event, which featured a lineup that included Pop, Sharon Jones, FKA Twigs and Basia Bulat. For Pop’s portion of the concert, he covered Bowie’s “Jean Genie” with backing from members of the Patti Smith Group. Then, Pop performed “Tonight,” one of the songs he and Bowie co-wrote for his 1977 debut solo album The Idiot. However, for the Tibet House benefit, Jones joined Pop on stage, and the pair opted for Bowie’s version of the song, which appeared as a duet with Tina Tuner on his 1984 album of the same name. Watch fan-shot clips of Pop’s performance at the bottom of the page. (You can also see videos of FKA Twigs’ set here and here.)

Next month, Pop will drop his new solo album Post Pop Depression, a collaborative effort with Josh Homme of Queens of the Stone Age and Eagles of Death Metal. That's slated for a March 18 release via Loma Vista. He’s already shared album singles “Break Into Your Heart” and “Gardenia.” Pop and Homme will embark on a tour that kicks off on March 28 in Seattle. See their complete itinerary right here.
