All signs point not just to a full recovery and return to the road for Eddie Van Halen, but some forthcoming new music, as well. The guitarist, who was sidelined by a nasty case of diverticulitis last year, has posted a photo to Facebook of himself in the studio.

His son Wolfgang is promising fresh material, as well: "Oh, yeah, there's plenty of other ideas laying around," the younger Van Halen tells Billboard, "and some new stuff that we've been working on, too. You never know what'll happen."

Wolfgang Van Halen helped spark 2012's long-awaited reunion between his dad and David Lee Roth by digging out some unreleased material from the Van Halen band's earliest days. Together with founding drummer Alex Van Halen, Wolfgang's uncle, the rejuvenated quartet produced 'A Different Kind of Truth,' Van Halen's first full-length studio project with Roth since '1984.'

Wolfgang has been touring with Tremonti, the solo band of Creed's frontman Mark Tremonti, while Van Halen took some time away. Now that its namesake leader is healthy again, the group is set for appearances at Australia's Stone Music Festival in April, through Japan in June and then at the Rock USA Festival in Oshkosh, Wisconsin this July.
