Here is an old joke by legendary comedian George Carlin about the only reason he watches auto racing. "I'm waiting for some accidents, man. I want to see some cars on fire!"

The same could be said about cycling, although you will not find any fires burning when bikes collide with each other. You will, however, see plenty of cyclists lying on the ground in pain after a bad collision. That is exactly what happened at today's third stage of the Tour de France from Antwerp to Huy. A pair of nasty pileups were so intense that the race had to be delayed because there were not enough medical officials on hand to tend to the injured cyclists. Britain's Chris Froome leads the race after finishing second in stage three before it was halted.
