Thanksgiving Week Jacktivities!

I love the holiday season!  Everything just seems more alive with the holiday lights and sounds of the season!  With Thanksgiving this week, you really need to start planning ahead on what activities you’ll need to fit in after all the turkey you eat!

Tifft Nature Preserve this weekend has a few activities going on that you will definitely enjoy.  First of all tomorrow at the preserve is there event called Native Americans:  Teachers of the Natural World.  Are you interested in local Native American Heritage?  Well here is your chance to learn about the Iroquois Nation and their contribution to Western New York.  Spend the day with the Friends of the Tifft Nature Preserve for a stroll through the preserve where they will talk to you about the different aspects of history, culture, and legend.  This event tomorrow runs from 2p to 4p at the Tifft Nature Preserve.

Then on Monday if you have little ones this event is a definite must!  Bundle up the kiddies and head over to the Tifft Nature Preserve on Monday for an event called Nature’s Circle: Gobble, Gobble.  This one they are going to love!  The activities kick off at 10:30 at the Preserve.  You’ll spend the day with your little one and the friends of Tifft learning to enjoy nature together.  You’ll get to listen to a story, sing silly songs, and have lots of fun, all the while helping the little ones comfortably engage in a natural setting.  Along with that you’ll get to take a short walk around the preserve to finish off the day. It’s Monday at the Tifft Nature Preserve.

Then once Thanksgiving is over and you are stuffed full of turkey make sure you plan something for the family to do on Friday!  At the Buffalo and Erie County Historical Society on Friday is their Museum Family Day “Train Day”!  Come out on Friday and celebrate with the museum everything about trains.  I’m sure if Sheldon from the Big Bang Theory was in Buffalo he’d be the first one in line!!  Celebration will include Rail Barons running the trains, a tour of the model train diorama, face painting, train crafts, and even an artifact scavenger hunt!  The event takes place on Friday from 1p to 4pm at the Buffalo and Erie county Historical Society.
