Tonawanda, NY is a suburban city north of Buffalo and home to around 15,000 people. It was established as a post-revolutionary War settlement in 1808.
Tonawanda is home to the annual Canal Fest of the “Tonawandas,” a week-long celebration that is the largest of its kind. It is celebrated in conjunction with the town of North Tonawanda.
It is also home to Gateway Harbor, a public park that runs along the Erie Canal and regularly features free concerts.
The Tonawanda Kardex Lumbermen were a professional football team from 1916 - 1921. The team played one game in the NFL.
