The Police

When the Police's debut album came out in1978, it sounded like little else on the music landscape at the time. The band was lumped in with punk and burgeoning New Wave groups at the time, but it played a mix of reggae and rock-inspired pop with all the time-shifting complexities found in prog and jazz.

The debut album by former Police guitarist Andy Summers' new band, Circa Zero, is recorded and mastered. But they're still trying to decide how, and with whom, to release the record, even though they played their first show last month in Los Angeles.

The album was their most perfectly radio-friendly, but it also caught them on the verge of collapse.

Police drummer Stewart Copeland might not be the biggest fan of the music of Rush, but he and fellow skinsman Neil Peart are longtime friends keeping a good-natured rivalry regarding their craft and individual personalities.

Concert tees, we all have them. Some are still worn, others are lost away in boxes in attics, basements and garages. But when I was thinking about all the great shows I've attended I realized the concert tee is the greatest memento (outside of the ticket stub) that one can collect.

A four-disc set commemorating Sting’s 25th anniversary as a solo artist is coming out  September 27.
