It's been a quarter of a century since one of the 80s' landmark hard rock concert tours began thundering its way across America. Launched in May of 1988, the Monsters of Rock tour brought together some of the greatest hard rock and heavy metal bands of that era for a day-long rock and roll celebration.
The guys in Metallica must be enjoying their stint as shoe designers at Vans, because they've just expanded their upcoming line of special edition sneakers with the last installment now arriving next spring.
Metallica were on top of the metal world in 1986, having just signed their first major label deal and releasing their commercial breakthrough album. But the band's year ended with a crushing blow after bassist Cliff Burton died in a bus accident while touring overseas.
Metallica are offering up what can be considered a sonic Christmas gift for fans. A studio version of the previously unheard song ‘Hate Train’ from the ‘Death Magnetic’ sessions has popped up online, at the same time the band played it at the first of their recent 30th anniversary shows.
