The summer concert season at Darien Lake has come to a close, and after four months of great shows, they certainly ended with a bang. And fire -- lots of fire. When you put two of the biggest bands in rock on one stage, you know you are in for a show.
Motley Crue singer Vince Neil and Kiss bassist and entrepreneur Gene Simmons put their money where there their mouths were the night before a recent Kiss/Motley Crue tour date in Oklahoma. The big-hearted rockers teamed with Jim Glover Chevrolet and Make-A-Wish Oklahoma for an event to raise money and awareness for Make-A-Wish, which helps grant wishes for children who are struggling to overcome an illness.
While former Kiss drummer Peter Criss's new book 'Makeup to Breakup: My Life In and Out of Kiss' promises to reveal the inner turmoil behind the early success of Kiss, an excerpt of the book reveals the turbulent childhood that proceeded his rock 'n' roll glory days. The Catman shares that he was a sickly baby born backwards into an immigrant family troubled by drinking and infidelity.
Few bands in rock history have had critical appeal in disproportionate amounts to their commercial success as Kiss. However, two writers, J.M. Blaine and Chuck Klosterman, have long treated the band with genuine love and seriousness, and recently got together to talk about their face-painted heroes.
Before some of the biggest games in college football this season, fans will be treated to the newest song from Kiss. ‘Hell or Hallelujah,’ the first single from the upcoming ‘Monster‘ album, will kick off ACC Network telecasts, meaning fans of University of North Carolina, Florida State, University of Miami and many more schools will hear plenty of Gene Simmons and company.
Apple can sell anything just by putting an "I" in front of it, and KISS can indoctrinate children into their Army with free tickets. Also, just to remind you, the Bills choked in New York, but we have at least another year of watching quality football, which is a good thing since there probably won't be any hockey. A fully made-up Gene Simmons would look right at home in the Oakland Raiders "black hole," but come Monday (Sept. 10), the Kiss bassist will be out on the field singing the National Anthem instead.
A truck carrying pyrotechnics for Kiss and Motley Crue was involved in an accident in Ohio while en route to tonight’s scheduled show at the DTE Energy Music Theater near Detroit, Mich. A joint statement on Kiss’s website includes the pictures below while announcing that tonight’s show has been rescheduled for tomorrow (Sept. 6).
September 1, 2012 Jack's Stick It and Lick It Summer Tour rolled into the Boulevard Mall parking lot this morning (Saturday, September 1) with a huge convoy of loyal listeners hoping to score a pair of tickets to see "The Tour" with two of the biggest rock bands in the world, KISS and Motley Crue. Unfortunately, we only had tickets for the first 50 cars.
We all have our fantasies about meeting our favorite rockers. They usually involve telling our heroes about how much their music has meant to us and gotten us through hard times. In turn, the rocker is so overwhelmed by the praise and asks us to join the tour as a member of the band’s entourage and you become best buddies forever.
Real cool move from some unlikely heroes. During their Aug. 8 joint concert in Denver, Kiss and Motley Crue announced that they will be donating $100,000 to a relief fund set up to help victims of the July 20 movie theater shootings in nearby Aurora, Colo.
Kiss keep rolling out ‘Hell or Hallelujah’ as their next single in increments. First there was the artwork, which was followed by a snippet posted online. Then earlier this week came the full audio of the track. Now there’s a lyric video to go along with the single.
