With hundreds of millions of people world wide logging onto social media sites everyday it's no wonder that businesses around the world have begun hiring social media experts to help them gain the upper hand in marketing themselves to this mass of potential customers.
During Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg’s “Look At This Awesome Thing We Did” talk at the F8 developer conference in San Francisco, he made sure to explain how much users are going to love the new Timeline feature that some people noticed a few days prior to the conference and kind of hated.

Okay, that may be a bit of an exaggeration, but tech blogger Michael Fitzgerald was able to calculate that workers wasting time on the social networking site costs US companies $280 billion in annual productivity losses.
A study by technology research firm Gartner, which recently surveyed 6,295 people between the ages of 13 and 74, reveals almost a quarter of 18- to 29-year-olds use social networking sites like Facebook and Twitter less than when they first signed up for the services, with many saying the services simply aren’t that much fun anymore.
