Beastie Boys have signed a deal to release a memoir, the New York Times reports. The still-untitled book celebrates the band’s history and aesthetic, as documented by surviving members Adam “Ad-Rock” Horovitz and Mike “Mike D” Diamond.

A sad day today in hip-hop and rock n'roll. MCA dies from cancer he was diagnosed with in 2009. The cancerous tumor was in his salivary gland and he lost the long battle today. Anybody else remember when the Beastie Boys show in Buffalo was nearly banned because they had inflatable penis' on the stage? That's the stuff of rock legends, and the Beastie Boys deserve to be in the Rock Hall of Fame

Move over, Snoop Dogg, Eminem and Nelly: the Beastie Boys have also been immortalized as commercially available action figures. And, in a rather superhero-like gesture, Mike “Mike D” Diamond, Adam “Ad-Rock” Horovitz and Adam “MCA” Yauch are donating the proceeds from sales of their limited-edition figures to charity.

‘Sesame Street’ is known for its musical numbers but generally the lyrics lean a little more optimistic (“Sunny day / Sweeping the clouds away”) than the rhymes in the Beastie Boys single ‘Sure Shot’ (“I’ve got the brand new doo-doo / guaranteed like Yoo-Hoo”).

Still, there’s something about this Sesame/Beastie rap mashup that just seems so right. It’s nostalgic, flute heavy and hey, there’s even some counting! That’s got to be worth something, right?
