Police in Syracuse are investigating the death of a man struck by a vehicle operated by Syracuse basketball coach Jim Boeheim late on Wednesday night.  Multiple media reports say the victim had been involved in an earlier accident with another vehicle and was struck by Boeheim's SUV on I-690 in East Syracuse.

It appears that the man who was struck had exited his vehicle and was walking on the roadway of the Interstate highway when Boeheim's vehicle came along.  That stretch of highway was closed for several hours while police investigated.

Boeheim is cooperating in the investigation and according to police it appears that this was a tragic accident.

Just hours earlier Boeheim had coached Syracuse to a big win over Louisville at the Carrier Dome.
