The summer of 2013 is starting to look like a bad one for box office records.

Yes, we had a few big hits: Iron Man 3, Despicable Me 2, Star Trek: Into Darkness and World War Z.

But, the list of huge-budget summer films that flopped is long and getting longer:

The Lone Ranger, After Earth (don't do movies with your kid), Turbo, White House Down and even Pacific Rim failed to meet expectations and, in some cases, made the studios stop and re-think their summer plans.

Let's see what kind of numbers Kick-Ass 2 does this weekend, but we think it will be average.

After all, even Jim Carrey doesn't like it too much and he's in it.
