Goo Goo Dolls bassist and champion of supporting local music and the arts, Robby Takac stopped by the JACK FM studios to tell us more about his 11th annual Music is Art Festival.

This Saturday September 21st, over 100 local bands spread across eight stages will take over Delaware Park behind the Albright Knox Art Gallery along with artists, street performers DJs, kids activities and of course a beer garden. Festivities kick off at 10am and continue through 10pm with music for all ages and fans of every genre. And the best part? It's absolutely free!!

In conjuction with Music is Art, Robby is also hosting a Good Choices, Good Music Instrument Drive all day on Friday (Sept. 20th) at Robby's recording studio, GCR Audio at the corner of Franklin and North St. in Buffalo. They are asking for your help to support the music programs at Buffalo and WNY schools that have been the victim of budget cuts and to get music back in schools and instruments in students hands.

If you still have that trumpet from 5th grade collecting dust in your attic, this is the perfect chance to make some room and help a student. Virtually all instruments will be accepted as well as cash donations to help refurbish the instruments, any questions can be directed to (716)880-3377.

Here's Robby to tell you more, and be sure to listen to JACK all day Friday (in case you weren't going to already) as Robby takes control of the station starting at 7am.
