Queensryche Ousts Singer Geoff Tate

Queensryche has finally pulled the trigger on the decision to continue without singer Geoff Tate, following weeks of speculation and a series of rumored and public squabbles with their longtime bandmate.

After a full month of tensions being made public, drummer Scott Rockenfield confirmed the news to Billboard that they will continue as a band with Todd La Torre filling the void left by Tate.

Rockenfield explained, “Over the past few months, there have been growing creative differences within Queensryche. We want our fans to know that we hoped to find a common resolution, but in the end parting ways with Geoff was the best way for everyone to move forward in a positive direction. We wish him the best of luck with all of his future endeavors. We can’t wait to bring Queensryche to our fans with Todd behind the microphone.”

LaTorre has been performing with the Queensryche members under the moniker Rising West, but they’ve been playing early Queensryche material in their shows.

The statement from the Queensryche members also added that the scheduled Queensryche performances that had been booked for the summer were “on hold at present time,” with “revised routing being worked on.”

So far, no statement from Tate has been made. The singer recently performed at a Salt Lake show opening for the Scorpions. The performance was initially billed as Queensryche, but Tate played solo when other members of the act backed out over their differences.

Much has been made over the past month about the group’s differences, as reports surfaced that there was an alleged physical altercation and knife-wielding incident between Tate and other members of the band when he overheard talk of the group possibly replacing him.

Earlier this month, Tate’s stepdaughter Miranda went on the band’s Facebook page to try to set the story straight with some “truths” about the group’s issues.
