Fall is an incredible time of the year!  Summer might be over but here in Buffalo we have just as many festivals and activities happening around town for the entire family!  Pull yourself off the couch and away from the marathon of scary movies and get out of the house to enjoy the fall weather and fall fun!

A fantastic Halloween event for little children that you might want to check out Halloween stuff that isn’t scary is the Holiday Hollow Halloween and Pirate Festival!   The festival is a non-scary fun filled event that’s setup like a Renaissance Fair.  The event has hours of entertainment that will keep you busy the entire time.  During the festival they have 7 live shows and a dozen of other attractions for you to venture through.  Some of the attractions include the comic Haunted Forest Adventure, famous Captain Hook & Mr. Smee outdoor comedy action sword fighting pirate show on a 50 foot pirate ship set, the Talking Pumpkins, and my favorite the Mad Hatter’s Tea Party Show.  Along with those activities make sure you check out Hook’s Maze, the pumpkins, and food!  The Halloween and Pirate Festival is located on Main Street in Corfu and is open weekends till the end of October.

Another great event you might want to check out this fall season is the Annual Pumpkin Fiesta at Becker Farms in Gasport. This one has something for everyone in the family to try! The fiesta runs every weekend in October. Listen to some of these events that the farm has to offer – Hillbilly Bob’s Pig Rock Derby which is Pig Races with Music, the Castle Labyrinth which you can get really lost in but come out with some fantastic memories, and even free live music from 1p to 4p. Along with that you can even take a ride on the Hay Rides through the forest and fields! Seriously that’s just the beginning of activities they have planned out for you at Becker Farms so go check it out for yourself. By the way running till the end of October they start getting into the Halloween spirit with the Haunted Hayrides. First they let you wander through the spooky turns in the castle of Labyrinth then once through you’ll get to huddle with your friends as you take ride on the terrifying Haunted Hayride!

One of my favorite fall activities you should check out this weekend, especially if you have never tried, is Apple and Pear Picking.  It is definitely a must this year!  I’ve asked around to see if there are any extra special places out there that my friends like and I’ve had many of them say Blackman Homestead Farm.  The farm is located on Thrall Road in Lockport and is open 7 days a week from 9am to 6pm.  You’ll get a chance to enjoy picking pears, apples, and even grapes from their 100 year old orchards and vineyards.  Along with their huge variety of fruit you can pick yourself they have fresh pressed cider, pumpkins, squash, grape juice, fruit butters, and that’s seriously just the beginning.  I know that sounds like a lot of fun and it couldn’t get any better but wait there’s more!  The farm even has barnyard animals and a straw climbing area the kids are going to love!
