Ivano Toscani who was the owner of the world famous Anchor Bar passed away last night at the age of 68.

Management of the Anchor Bar announced his passing in a news release.

“Those of us who were fortunate enough to know and work with Ivano have lost a dear friend and colleague, whose spirit will forever be ingrained as part of Anchor Bar’s history,” said Mark Dempsey, VP of the Anchor Bar Franchise & Development Company.

 

Toscani moved to Buffalo in 1973 from Italy, where he was introduced to the founders of the Anchor Bar Frank and Teressa Bellissimo.

Toscani took over ownership of the restaurant after the Bellissinos passed away.
Funeral arrangements were not announced
